Angry Volunteer Confronts Defence Secretary Over Floods

A volunteer who has been helping evacuate residents from flooded homes has confronted the defence secretary during his visit to one of the worst affected areas.

During an interview on Sky News, Su Burrows, who earlier pleaded with the Prime Minister for help, grilled Philip Hammond, telling him exhausted volunteers had been risking their lives to rescue stranded residents in Wraysbury, Berkshire.

"There are 100 people here helping but not one of them is from the Environment Agency," she said. "They're sat in an office and they need to be here."

During an emotional exchange, she added: "We need the army here. We said that yesterday but no one is taking us seriously.

"What will it take for you to understand? We are seriously in need of help."
